Oct 28, Colombo: A former member of the Central Committee of Sri Lanka's Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Chameera Koswatte, who is now a member of the dissident group, has been attacked by an unidentified group in Ambalantota.

Koswatte had been addressing a meeting in the residence of one of the dissident group supporters in Alavalamulla, Ambalantota when the meeting had come under attack last night.

Koswatte and the organizer of the meeting had been attacked allegedly by supporters of the JVP leadership.

A group of five persons had carried out the attack, according to Koswatte.

He has said that a complaint had been lodged with the Hambantota Police about the attack.
